The ONLY next-gen console I want is the Wii. (And besides, I wouldn't pay for something from Microsoft anyway.) I can see the PS3 being fun once it comes down from its ridiculous price, but that'll be at least couple of years from now.
The DS is a beautiful thing. My roomie has one, though he just broke the top screen the other day. (He's getting a replacement screen online, and going to fix it himself.) I am horribly addicted to the New Super Mario Bros.
I really want to get Okami! It looks incredible! And I'm sure there will be PS2 games coming out for at least another year, like with the PS1. But the Wii calls to me -- it's cheap, with some REAL innovation in controls and games. I really hope this is the start of a new ascendancy for Nintento.
Yeah, I finished Okami last night (~56 hours in). It's a very good game, but they did some things that bring down the experience. I'll be posting my usual review sometime in the near future.
With Rogue Galaxy, God of War 2, FF XII(don't have it yet), combined with the rest of my collection for PS2 and other consoles I'm set for a while.
I miss the days where, once a console was released, that was it. There weren't any updates to the basic functionality of the unit that could potentially bork up a system.
If I wanted to deal with regular updates to a system, I'll use a computer for gaming. Update to game content... that's fine too.
Just leave the hardware alone; get it right, get it out the door and leave it alone. Damned Microsoft influence on the console gaming industry.
And I want to second the DS love here, too. I've got a Phat Electric Blue version and play the hell out of it. :) Great little system.

In the meantime, I'll catch up on current gen stuff. FYI- Okami is worth getting.

Looking forward to the Wii too!
