I swear, they're trying to push me away

Is Apple trying to make me go back to Linux? They just keep screwing up more and more

Quicktime DRM screws up movie files you make

Apple screws up system tool in the name of DRM

Well, they shot their foot off this morning.

I filed a security bug last week. It got changed to "enhancement". Since it's an enhancement request, not a security issue, I guess they won't mind if I publicize it. Watch this space for details...

Jen wants a new iMac. Looks like I'm buying a new Linux box, and she's getting my old iMac.

Really? "Enhancement"?

WTF?

Nice thing about going Linux, you'll save quite a bit of money not paying the Apple hardware and software "tax"...

The hardware tax for the base system isn't that bad (well, compared to other vendors, not build it yourself).

Expanding memory on the other hand o_O????

1 GB stick for my PowerBook, $29.99 on New Egg
On Apple: $300 (no, that's not a typo)

10X price difference? GMAFB.

The prices on their site for hardware upgrades to the base model have ALWAYS been ridiculous.

When I'd order systems as a sysadmin I'd always go third party for RAM (even though I could've been a lazy bastard and bought it pre-installed and my dimwitted "manager" wouldn't have so much as blinked, the jacked up price always offended me... heh).
